Defense & Naval

Gicam’s technology can repair and manufacture critical defense and naval components using DED Laser technology: armored undercarriages, propeller shafts, marine propellers, and gas turbines. It enables rapid, localized repairs, which are crucial for industrial sovereignty and operational readiness for military and naval fleets.

Structures and Shielding Supports

Fasteners and anchor points worn down by repeated assembly and disassembly: restore the assembly geometry without altering the load-bearing structure, which is otherwise sound.
The attachment points and structural supports for additional armor plates are subject to wear, corrosion, or flattening over the course of repeated assembly and disassembly cycles and under severe operating conditions, while the vehicle’s load-bearing structure remains generally sound. DED allows these damaged attachment areas to be rebuilt, restoring the assembly geometry without having to rebuild the entire structure.

This approach is particularly relevant for extending the service life of ground-based platforms, as completely replacing them is a time-consuming and costly process. It is part of a strategy to modernize and keep existing fleets in service, rather than systematically replacing them with new equipment.
Localized repair → Only the damaged attachment areas are repaired, not the entire structure.
Fleet Modernization → Extends the service life of existing platforms.

FAQ

Is it possible to repair a body panel mounting point without having to rebuild the entire vehicle structure?

DED can repair only the damaged area (wear, corrosion, work hardening), restoring the joint geometry without affecting the rest of the load-bearing structure.

Is this repair suitable for older platforms?
