Gicam technology can use DED laser cladding to repair large, expensive components used in the steel, cement, paper, and material handling industries, such as cylinders, bands, rollers, and rollers. It targets only the worn area, without replacing the entire component, to minimize production downtime.

Lifting hooks and block components

Strict regulations that limit modifications to safety components: the issue here is regulatory rather than economic.
Although subject to strict regulations limiting work on safety components, certain ancillary components of the block—pulley pins, brackets—are subject to localized wear or corrosion that may warrant qualified reconditioning rather than systematic replacement. The DED process allows these areas to be selectively rebuilt with a suitable material, subject to strict process qualification in accordance with the traceability and nondestructive testing requirements specific to lifting equipment.

This approach is particularly beneficial for high-value or hard-to-find components, especially on older or custom-designed cranes where original replacement parts are no longer manufactured. However, the primary concern remains regulatory rather than economic when it comes to safety components in the strict sense, which are not covered by this application.
Targeted ancillary components → Drive shafts and mounts, not classified safety components.
Strict qualification required → Meets the industry's traceability and non-destructive testing requirements.
